Taunton School Sports Club

Meet the Team

Swim School Manager

Hi, I’m Craig, Sports Club and Swim School Manager. I have worked in and around pools for the last 10 years and worked with children since I was 16. As a current scout leader and previous activity leader and manager, I love working with children and seeing them develop into young adults and learning new skills.

Swim School is one of my favourite parts of the day, being able to teach children life skills whilst having fun and playing exciting games is a great feeling. There is nothing more satisfying than teaching a 3-year-old child to swim, helping them to develop into a swimmer; and then seeing them grow in confidence.

Outside of work I am a complete water baby, anything to do with the water I love it, I’m a trained scuba diver and Dolphin Snorkel Instructor & Lifeguard Trainer, my love for the water has a huge impact on teaching children to swim; I aim for them to be able to experience the things I have in the water, whilst being safe at all times.

Hi, I’m Coralie,

Whilst growing up, swimming played a significant role in my life. As a child swimming lessons quickly became the highlight of my week, and as a result, I began swimming competitively at a young age. Whilst at Taunton Deane I began coaching the younger swimmers and was put forward for the Somerset young volunteer award.

As soon as I was old enough, I took both my teaching qualifications and have been working as a swim teacher for the last five years. I currently teach curriculum swimming in schools, learn to swim and coach for Taunton Deane. I have completed my lifeguarding qualification too. In 2019 I was extremely fortunate to be offered the opportunity to teach and coach in America and working out there taught me a completely different approach to swimming, which I have integrated with my teaching style.

I adore being in the water and hope to inspire others through my teaching.

Hi, I’m Rhys Cole, Swim Teacher and Mentor

I have been working as a swim teacher and coach for eight years and enjoy all that it has to offer. Seeing children grow with confidence in the water as they learn new skills is amazing and incredibly rewarding. In my role as a mentor, I enjoy supporting my fellow swim teachers and offer guidance to parents (and swimmers!) with any queries they may have.

I have come from a competitive swimming background. I qualified for several national competitions and was ranked in the top 10 in the UK for my events. I have now entered the world of triathlon and have completed an ironman triathlon.

I would always encourage, and support, a pathway into competitive swimming but the main reason why I’m a swim teacher is to see youngsters enjoy themselves in the water as they learn new skills.
