Meet the Team

Craig

Sports Club and Swim School Manager

Hi, I’m Craig, Sports Club and Swim School Manager. I have worked in and around pools for the last 10 years and worked with children since I was 16. As a current scout leader and previous activity leader and manager, I love working with children and seeing them develop into young adults and learning new skills.

Swim School is one of my favourite parts of the day, being able to teach children life skills whilst having fun and playing exciting games is a great feeling. There is nothing more satisfying than teaching a 3-year-old child to swim, helping them to develop into a swimmer; and then seeing them grow in confidence.

Outside of work I am a complete water baby, anything to do with the water I love it, I’m a trained scuba diver and Dolphin Snorkel Instructor & Lifeguard Trainer, my love for the water has a huge impact on teaching children to swim; I aim for them to be able to experience the things I have in the water, whilst being safe at all times.

Hi, I’m Lewis Allen, Sports Club Duty Supervisor

I have been working in the leisure industry for six years, all those spent here at Taunton School.

I have grown so much as a person in the past six years, both professionally and personally. Working in the leisure industry has enabled me to continually grow with the ever-changing environments and challenges we face in life.

My passion for leisure and fitness continues to grow each year and I enjoy creating a wide variety of training programmes for our clients and watching them develop and reach their personal goals.

My favourite part of the job is maintaining the swimming pools and all the back of house procedures that go into keeping the pool open, there’s nothing quite like a bit of water-based chemistry on a Monday morning!

I have recently started to study a level 3 in business management to help me further progress in my career and am excited to see what opportunities lay ahead.

Hi, I’m Max Patch, Sports Club Duty Supervisor and Resident Personal Trainer

I first found my love of sport and the leisure industry way back in school. At the age of 13, I found a passion for long-distance cross country running and the passion and desire has continually grown from there. In my second year of competing, I reached the National School Championships and held the speed record for several years after. I hold four County Championship medals which is an achievement I am incredibly proud of.

Following on from my love of running and fitness I trained to become a Level 3 Personal Trainer to put my ability to good use and help others succeed as I did. As the resident Personal Training for the Taunton School Sports Club, I enjoy being able to tailor programs to our clients and help them achieve their personal goals. To date, one of my proudest achievement is helping a member achieve a target weight loss of over 3 stone and go onto achieve a medalled place and personal best in a national triathlon – this client is currently working towards Team GB Selection.

Hi I’m Alex Cope, Sports Club Duty Manager

I’ve worked in the leisure industry for six years. I started off working with children at an outdoor learning centre, teaching all manner of activities from rock-climbing to rifle-shooting. Three years ago I made the change to active leisure, working with adults in swimming pools and gyms.

In this time I’ve learned to recognise for all ages the values of an active lifestyle; in experiencing new disciplines, and in training to achieve your goals. I love any and all sport from football and rugby to tennis and even snooker! My favourite activities are racquet sports, in particular badminton. In my spare time, I really enjoy cooking; I find that when you eat well, you live well!

Joining the Taunton School team in 2020 comes with a wide range of modern-world challenges, but I’m looking forward to being an important part of taking these on and helping to improve the experience for everyone who uses our facilities.
